C  shape  REEL

 

 This wooden reel is a fair kite accessory when travelling. C

 Thanks to its moderate overall dimensions 30 x 14 cm it can go inside any bag.

It can contain 300 m of line Ø 1,6 mm.

Each turn it winds up 50 cm at least.

Winding up around horns as eight avoid to twist the line.

Without the line, the piece of plywood 15 mm thick weights 180g.

To wind up with no more than 5 Kg  tension on the line.

 

 

 

The end of the line is run through the small hole and secured with a loop around one horn before to wind up.
The large hole is used to maintain the reel with a chord when flying a kite.
Its shape is designed for winding up as eights. S
To stop the line when flying, run a loop through the handle and set it around a horn.

Set the zoom so the line must be 100 mm long.

Copy the outline on a sheet, fold it on the middle line and cut it. Unfold to get the template.

Make it out of plywood plate 15 or 12 mm thick.

Sand it carefully and varnish to protect the wood.
